ReSound Introduces New Hearing Aid Types For Omnia Platform

ReSound has announced that they are expanding the Omnia range with a new rechargeable MiniRIE, rechargeable BTEs and some interesting Custom hearing aids. The new devices will be available to order in late March in Ireland. Two of the In The Ear hearing aids are rechargeable, the half-shell and full-shell devices which you can see in the picture above. The CIC while very discreet is neither rechargeable nor Bluetooth-enabled. However, if discretion is really what you want, it certainly offers that. The devices are as follows.

  • NEW miniRIE – These miniature receiver-in-ear hearing aids are ReSound’s smallest rechargeable style with a gently curved shape that rests low on the ear for a more discreet fit without compromising on sound or comfort. Like all the other RICs it can be matched to your hair or complexion to maximise discreetness.
  • Custom Rechargeable – These hearing aids are designed to look like modern earbuds and offer a custom, comfortable fit, high-quality sound, and rechargeable batteries. Available in a half-shell and full-shell style.
  • Completely-in-Canal (CIC) – These simple custom-designed hearing aids are so small it’s unlikely anyone will realize users are wearing them, and as they sit inside the ear canal, they’re protected from wind noise.
  • Behind-the-Ear (BTE) – These user-friendly hearing aids are small, powerful, rechargeable, and can be matched to your hair and complexion to maximise discreetness.

As I said, all except the CIC will connect to ReSound’s Smart3D App and feature Bluetooth streaming of audio and phone calls, with hands-free calling for Apple iOS devices. Unfortunately, the hands-free system is not available for the Android system. All of the devices will be available in the 9, 7 and 5 levels of technology, and they should be available in March.

The BTEs come in two power levels, one of which can employ a thin-tube rather than the traditional tube and mould arrangement. The BTEs are small, rechargeable, and have a wide fitting range.

The outside of the rechargeable custom devices is similar to the Customs by ReSound, which was introduced last year. They include the large button on the full-shell and half-shell for easy user control and the custom inserts in the recharging case to ensure reliable charging.

ReSound's Check My Fit feature in the Smart3D App—which gives users guidance to wear their hearing aids correctly via a quick “ear selfie”—has also been extended to the new styles.
